Analog Board Game Solo Project

A board game conversion of the online PC game Team Fortress 2 by Valve Software. In it, your goal is to capture the enemy intelligence and return it to your base while preventing the opponent from doing the same.

  • Devised different character classes in TF2 to operate in a turn-based, grid environment.

  • Designed a simultaneous movement and combat system to simulate the realtime, twitch-based gameplay of the PC game and stay authentic to the original TF2 experience.

  • Designed the Spy class around the player providing partial information about its position on the grid. This helped give players enough information to deduce their position and maneuver through the map, allowing for advanced tactics.

  • Balanced select TF2 classes to faithfully reflect the strengths and weaknesses of the digital game. The Scout can move several squares at once but can go down with less damage. The Heavy can take more damage but can move fewer squares. The Pyro deals lots of damage up close but has limited range.

  • Designed the board around a Team Fortress 2 map with sections that accommodate all adapted character classes. For instance, the map contains small rooms which can make certain classes more deadly in close-range while there are open fields that make it easier for The Sniper class to deal damage from a safe range.
